So an update is on the cards...

Soooooo hello all!!! I am alive and kicking, just been very absent of late!!
Unfortunately I have not been well in the last months, with a persistant flu not wanting to go away, a head injury and my asthma not liking the current weather. Although I've found early mornings down the beach to be quite nice and calming as the sea salt is very good for my asthma, tho I cant live on the beach!! Due to this fact I've spent a lot of time in medical appnts and such! Including my 3hr wait in the local hospital when I had my forehead spilt open by a hockey stick (haha yeah still getting injured in my games!) www.facebook.com/media/set/?se… The scar is over an inch long, it recedes back into my hairline about 2cm...haha this what I looked like for a bit!!
Anyways, I've got a few exciting things coming up in the next few months
My photo "Cricket at the GABBA" comes out on an Australia Post postage stamp in 14 days!! July 5th is the day I am counting down too!! The photo is part of the 5 photo series called "Living Australian" which are being produced onto postage stamps. You can view the series here! www.aussievault.com.au/vault/7… - Mine is the sunglasses one! So the countdown is on!!
And in second news, one of my storm chasing weather photos was picked to be on The Weather Channel's 2012 Calender!! www.facebook.com/?ref=home#!/p… You can also view the other photos for the calender there! That will be out in September, so that will be the next countdown!
I will continue to try and get some photos uploaded as I get my act together. And until then, no injuries and hopefully this persistant cough!!

Another natural diaster has hit close to home, this time across the tasman in New Zealand, Christchurch on the South Island was hit by a powerful earthquake, causing terrible damage to homes, buildings and roads and many people killed or injured.
To our neighbours across the tasman, Australians are thinking and praying for you all!
In other news, my new D7000 is going ever so well, im so so so impressed with the camera and wished I had have upgraded earlier!! I had a weeks photography work in a school in SA last week, so my quick trip down and back up to Qld now to finish editing before sending them off. I've got another 4 shoots in the next week, IF, the weather decides to dry up and the clouds and rain disappear!!
Anyways, enjoy the new storm photos I've posted up!

An Update of some thoughts...

Hello Hello Hello!
Well its been a while, but heres a few updates on things!
1. My website is up and running!!! www.katewallphotography.com.au

2. I spent nearly 3 weeks down working down on a friends property in the Lockyer Valley. For those who are aware of Qlds latest natural disasters, Im sure "Lockyer Valley" rings a big bell. While in the media it was to be that Brisbane suffered big floods, it was a whole lot worse out in the Lockyer Valley. Where I was working (my godparents farm, they went away on holidays n i ran the place) we thankfully were up high on a hill, though the water came within 200m of the house, which was very freaky!! the flood waters were so loud and fast, it was scary as. While isolated for 5 days, with no power, water (only from tanks), phones (mobile reception also turned off), torches and radios became a godsend! It was very lucky we had gas bbq and stove to cook (spaghetti and so on) so we could still eat well enough. Then the clean up began! While i had a few friends who lost houses and everything, no one I knew lost their life. Keep the families who lost loved ones in your prayers/thoughts! After my exciting but stressful few weeks, it was great to fly down to Sydney for a quick trip!
3. I am a winner!! I was one of the 5 winners in the Australia Day Council's "LIVING AUSTRALIAN" competition and my photo "Cricket at the GABBA" is now going to be presented on a postage stamp!! It comes out mid-year which shall be exciting. I flew dwn to Sydney on 23rd Jan for the presentation and had a couple of days exploring beautiful Sydney!
4. I turned 21!! Australia Day (jan 26) is my birthday and I greeted the morning front up with a 4am sunrise shoot, it was great fun! A great way to see in my birthday!
5. My new camera is on order! I did alot research online and tlking to ppl at the local camerahouse and after playing around with a few different cameras, decided on the Nikon D7000. So Im looking forward to that arriving and getting to know it well
Anyways, I will renew my sub in the next few weeks and get back into the act of featuring friends and photos
